One of the greatest philatelic rarity of Transjordan is the strip of three of the 1923 April-October ½ Piastre surcharge in black on the 9 Piastre March 1923 issue with the left stamp showing the ½ Piastre omitted giving rise to a unique unrecorded stamp. The center stamp shows a double ½ piastre surcharge while the right stamp showing the stamp with no error.
This presentation is on Transjordan postal stamps and postal history starting with the forerunners pre-stamp mail dating back to the fourteenth century Venetian period. The presentation will also cover the Ottoman period followed by the earliest issues of Transjordan on the Egyptian Expeditionary Force stamps as well as on the stamps of Hejaz. The presentation ends with the 1927 issue, when the portrait of King Abdullah was shown for the first time on stamps.
