The program will discuss the paper trade in New York City during the mid-19th century. Much of the philatelic material comes via the author’s gold metal exhibit at Chicago 2021. The city of New York was the center of the nation’s paper trade at that time, and all aspects of the paper industry including innovations in newspapers, stationery, etc. will be examined.”
Mr. Valente is a member of the APS and serves on the Expert Committee of the APS. He also belongs to the USPCS and the Collectors Club of New York. His specialty is stamp and stationery paper, for which he has authored several articles and a book on the subject including the recent book, Rag Paper Manufacturing in the U.S., 1801-1900
