An overview of the alphabet denominated (“A” through “H”) rate-change stamps from 1978 to 1998. The process of approving and implementing U.S. rates changed with the introduction of the United States Postal Service making it difficult to provide appropriately denominated stamps. These stamps provided sufficient quantities of first-class letter rate stamps until denominated stamps could be printed and distributed – a simple but elegant solution.
