Omar is a NYC collector of early Mexico (1736-1920’s). For the last 35 years he has exhibited often where he has made long lasting friendships. He is a proud member of the Collectors Club, MEPSI (where he is a member of the expertizing committee), The Club de Monte Carlo, The Royal Philatelic Society London (where he is a FRPSL), the Grand Prix Club and APS. To his surprise he won the 2004 C of C and the 2006 Grand Prix International. Internationally he has won 9 Large Gold, Gold and Large Vermeil medals and in the USA 9 Grand and Reserve Grand awards, and 40+ Gold medals with more than 20 exhibits, all about Mexico. In the last few years he has published a number of articles about Mexican early issues in The Collectors Club Philatelist, The London Philatelist and MEPSI’s Mexicana. He recently self-published a small poetry book called Atoms and Molecules of an Alchemist.
Professionally, he retired from a career in an international business consulting firm where he was a partner. He is a professional actor and a proud union member. He has a bachelor’s degree in business, an MBA (University of Wisconsin) and an MFA (The New School NYC). He served for 7 years on the Council of Philatelists of the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. He is proudly a dual Mexican-American citizen and a New Yorker. He loves pizza and bagels.
