Iva and Henrik Mouritson will show how Open Philately is perfectly suited for telling historical stories. Their exhibits combine Museum-level historical documents and artefacts with high level philatelic items from all over the world. The two exhibits on display are the two highest judged Open Philately exhibits in the world (both 97 points). Come and see cool philately combined with key historical artefacts.
Iva Mouritsen is a Croatian philatelist living in and exhibiting for Germany. She came to philately through her interest in history and the Danish royal family. Had it not been for the existence of Open Philately, which allows exhibitors to combine historical documents and other artefacts with philatelic material, she would never have become an exhibitor. However, when she did, her impact was immediate. Iva’s fascinating story and exquisite Open Philately exhibit “A Royal Ménage à Trois and its Historical Consequences” caused a sensation by scoring FIP large gold with 95 points in only 5 frames and winning best-in-class when it was first shown at the FIP exhibition Praga 2018. Both results were confirmed at Bangkok 2018. In 2020, she showed her exhibit for the first time in 8 frames and got 97 points and won the overall Grand Prix Naposta as the best exhibit across all classes at the national exhibition NAPOSTA 2020 in Haldensleben, Germany. It is the first time an Open Philately exhibit has won this honour. At LONDON 2022, she again got FIP large gold and the best-in-class award.
Iva Mouritsen is one of only two officially qualified FIP judges in Open Philately worldwide and is a national judge in thematic philately. As a part of this education, she developed a thematic version of her exhibit which got large gold at the national level on its first showing.
Iva Mouritsen is the secretary of the FIP working group (preliminary Open Philately Bureau) which wrote the new regulations for Open Philately at FIP level.
