We would like to provide you with a brief update on the current situation for the Collectors Club and how it has been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic:
* We continue to follow all the warnings and precautions from the federal, state and city authorities and we are observing all these scrupulously. Nothing is more important than the safety of our members and employees. Consequently, based on this advice, we closed the Club in March 13th.
* We have rescheduled the Lichtenstein dinner Wednesday, Oct 21. Further details will be forthcoming in the late summer.
* We have cancelled all programs in the Club through to the end of June. in September, hopefully we will be able to resume holding in-person meetings.
* Reflecting our desire to continue to serve both our membership and the broader philatelic community, we have initiated the Virtual Philatelic Program Series. Our first programs was held live, via the internet, on April 13. Our next virtual meeting is scheduled for April 29. From that point forward we are planning meetings on each alternative Wednesday. Sign up details are available elsewhere on our website.
Fortunately, publication of our journal, the Collectors Club Philatelist is unaffected by these concerns over Covid-19. Indeed, might we suggest that the free time you’ve been presented with might be a perfect time to finish that article you’ve been considering writing for the CCP.
Our intent to fully participate at the Hartford Great American Stamp Show remains unchanged. We will be sharing a table with our friends from the Philatelic Foundation and hope to greet many off you there. Additionally, as previously announced, we are co-sponsoring a dinner with the RPSL on Wednesday, August 19th. For reservations for that event please contact Alex Haimann at haimannat@gmail.com .
Some also say, that this current situation is also superb opportunity to clear the backlog in your stamp room or space.
In the midst of all these disturbing developments and the stress of these times, may we suggest that this would be a perfect time to review and more fully explore our website, https://www.collectorsclub.org/ . We have an extremely extensive video catalog of past meetings. There is tremendous value to be gained by review these videos. In addition to the videos, all past issues of the CCP have been digitalized and are available for you. We think you’ll find a wealth of information and value in the Club’s website.
In closing we would like to reiterate all your patience and forbearance with the Club as we cope with these extraordinary circumstances. We hope you all remain safe and healthy.
